to Attend FCS Professional Development Workshops
One Professional Development
Workshop is planned for each of the eight FCS disciplines during the 2009-10
year. All full and part-time faculty should attend. Also welcome are deans,
counselors, high school and community partners, and students that you want to
reward or encourage. Meals will be served, so reservations are a MUST. Check
new FCS online calendar to find information and dates for your discipline’s
workshop.

Writers
We are pleased to welcome four new writers to our FCS team. Check out what our
new contributors have to say. Jean Tepperman, Freelance Writer, encourages her
colleagues to weigh in on the
Early Learning Quality Improvement Program.
In
Picture These Countertops, Carol Lamkins,
CMKBD, CID, provides the pros, cons, and images of a variety of countertop
surfaces. As the semester begins, Dolores Robles, MA, Mt. San Antonio College,
has some interesting tools to help students overcome
Procrastination. Finally, Maria L. Claver,
PhD, MS, Cal State Long Beach,
Brings Curriculum to Life with an article on the benefits of Service
Learning in Gerontology.
