Insights from FCS Faculty
In light of the recently issued RFP from California’s Early Head Start, Alan
Guttman weighs in on the expected
expansion and a few of the elements necessary for its success. Allen
Martin, Cal State Northridge, winds up the year with two timely articles
related to the economy: “How
to Protect your Career” and “Economic
Redistribution,” which is about the potential savings from simply
reviewing your bank accounts, credit cards and other services. Lisa Ledeboer,
Mt. San Antonio College, offers a comprehensive list of
50+ Online Money Management Resources. Finally, Melanie Horn Mallers,
Cal State Fullerton, covers a wide spectrum of family life with two
articles: a well-researched look at the
importance of early bonding, and a practical, yet compassionate, take on
communicating with loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease.
FCS
FLASH: You’ll FLYP
Over the last two semesters, the FCS FLASH has sent you 17 activities to
support information featured in
Brain Rules.
We trust these resources have given you some ideas on how neuroscience
findings can make teaching and learning more effective. In our last exercise
for 2009, we are sending you to FLYP Media. We want to know how products in
this multi-modal media presentation make learning more engaging. Why are
their stories so appealing? What makes them memorable? Click on the article
related to your discipline and consider creative ways you could use the
information and presentation.
